"Keep things simple". Martin Rooney

A few days a go I wrote a post on keeping things simple in the gym especially wen you see tha you are not making the gains you want. Simplify. I picked up this post recently which was written by a close collegue and friend CJ Swaby of CJS Fitness where he too spoke on keeping things simple in the gym following on from a talk by Martin Rooney orthopaedic therapist and author of numerous books on strengh and conditioning at te BodyPower exhibition 2011. Here is a snippet of the video where he goes through the well known press-up exercise.

"Sometimes doing things that are very basic - produces amazing results." - Martin Rooney.

"See yourself in your minds eye doing more than you currently do". Welcome home Cesc Fabregas.

The long awaited return of Cesc Fabregas back to is boyhood club Barcelona FC draws to a close one of the longest sagas in football transfer history. Rumours of his transfer had been circulating around for the past couple of years ever since the Spanish Natonal team back in 2010 won World Cup (through the pass of Cesc Fabregas) following on from te sucess of the Euro Championships and his ever growing influence he as shown at Arsenal and the English Football Premier League, it was only time before one of Europes big clubs came knocking on the door for his signature.

Contrary to what most people would like to think the lure of coming back home to his family and friends where he was born in Catalunya was the deciding factor but as Cesc explained in his press conference on arrival to Barcelona FC he states

"a football career is short and any footballer wants to enjoy the moment he lives to be the best he can be and works hard to get there. It was never the fact of coming home that made me come back as when I retire I will have all the time in the world to be with family and friends. I want to perform at the best level, I see a team (Barcelona FC) that performs at a level where I can bring something to this team, I understand the way they play, I understand the players. I am eager to get started. If there was a team like Barcelona in Portugal I would want to play there and not here but by chance this team happens to be here in Catalunya, where I was born and brought up".

Welcome home Cesc, we at FisioNostra are sure you wll strive to work to your best on the field and improve what is already the greatest football team in history.

FisioNostra at Gong KwonYuSul Academy Barcelona

Fisionostra is proud to announce that in collaboration with Director Pablo Raj in September will be offering kettlebell and functional training classes. It was a little while ago that I was approached to Pablo Raj the Director and owner of the academy in regards to physically preparing him for his upcoming MMA debut fight in late October 2011 in Barcelona. Pablo Raj a 4th Dan jiujitsu master set himself this challenge and is totally motivated to reaching his goals. We have had the pleasure of working in some great facilities that his academy offers including an MMA cage and boxing ring and we are sure that Pablo will reach his goal.

Together we have decided it would be a great complement to some of the fighters in the academy to benefit from the training that FisioNostra offers and in collaboration we will be coming up with specific dates for our classes very soon. Come back to our updates soon either on Facebook or on Twitter or you can email me directly at info@fisionostra.com oe on our main site.

Magno Vieira professional footballer works with FisioNostra to promote use of Trigger Point Performance products

I just came off from the phone with an old football collegue and great friend Magno Vieira, professional footballer who now plays at Fleetwood Town in the English Blue Square Premier League and who has had loan spells at Wigan FC, Wycombe Wanderers and Barnet FC. In our conversation we talked about his present pre- season programme and recovery and regeneration and what he is doing to get himself in peak condition for the new season. We talked about te GRID and the benefits we at FisioNostra have found have helped all our clients from the office worker to the elite athlete. So on our recommendation he will be incorporating the GRID into his everyday training sessions.

We at FisioNostra have long been promoting the benefits of te GRID not only for its simplicity of use but in its targeted massage of the lats, upper back, low back, glutes, hamstrings, quads, ITB or calf. Dense enough to penetrate muscle and provide relief in areas of high tension. If you would like some more info on the GRID and also on our updoming TPT workshops give us a call on +34 695 972 665 or alternatively send us an email at info@fisionostra.com.

CrossCore 180 bodyweight, MMA and combat sports trainer

In the US the CrossCore180 Rotational Bodyweight Trainer started life known purely as the “War Machine”. This was based on its design as a tool for athletes in combat sports and then a rapidly gained popularity in the United States military. MMA sports clubs soon realised the benefits of rotational bodyweight training as a means of progressing regular bodyweight training (the staple of most combat sports athletes strength and conditioning), for improving movement quality through a full range of mobility whilst providing variable amounts of resistance so users could choose to work strength, power, speed or muscular endurance, and also for recovery sessions and flexibility.

Here in Spain there are few establisments who are using the CrossCore 180 at this present time as knowledge about the product begins to grow the main users have been amateur and professional athletes who have found out about the CrossCore 180 and have started to use and and ave not looked back. Some of examples include

Luis Noguera, present Under 21 Spainish waterski champion who has been using our product in the preparation for the 2011 waterskiing world championships in Russia

Pablo Raj, owner and director of the Korean Mixed martial arts KwonJusul academy in Barcelona

If you want to try out the CrossCore 180 – whether for combat conditioning or rehabilitation – give us a ring here at FisioNostra and we will place an order for you or order one for yourself: http://www.crosscore180.co.uk

Training in Europe will be available starting from September.

FisioNostra helps Pablo Raj of prepare for 1st MMA fight

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up with Pablo Raj director and owner of the Korean Jiujitsu GongKwon Yusul Spanish Federation. This guy has done it all in the martial arts world with 22 years behind him and also a 4th Dan in his discipline who regularly takes trips over to Korea to improve himself and train with the masters.

Pablo had recently set himself a goal to fight in his first MMA fight here in Barcelona in October and has asked FisioNostra to helped him get in optimum shape to go into this fight mentally knowing he has done everything he possibly can to prepare. FisioNostra will be helping Pablo Raj along the way and regularly will be posting training sessions that we will do with him so keep posted to our blog. We regularly help many athletes reach their goals. Below are some photos of Pablo Raj and his academy here in Barcelona.
